Grow Your Business: 5 Ways a Snow Day Can Change Your Business (and Life)!

How can you grow your business during snow days? Trust me; this is something we all can do.

Many of us are in areas of the country hammered with snow, ice, and storms this past week. Here in North Carolina (where snow rarely stays long), we had a significant snow storm last Wednesday morning. The snow continued until we had 8 inches on the ground, plus below freezing temperatures. We may get more snow (or ice) days this winter.

These 5 insights may be helpful
the next time a snow day hits.

    1. Don’t get on the roads if warnings have been issued. It’s not worth the risk, especially if there are predictions or the presence of ice. Embrace the snow day and use this time productively.
    2. Fly through your tasks with focus. This is not a “day of rest”. To grow your business, make the most of this new-found time. Work on the key projects that will move your business (or book) forward. Take time to come up with new ideas that contribute to the bottom line.
    3. Connect or reconnect. Ask yourself “Who can I reach out to today to grow my business?” and wait for the answer. Bonus tip! Everyone is home-bound and connecting may help with the feeling of cabin fever. Discover the simple steps for connecting and re-connecting and how to make it work for you.
    4. Grow your business financial projectsTackle financial projects. Tax time is right around the corner. Many of us must invest some time in gathering the information for our return. We may have been a bit lax in tracking expenses, mileage, and investments in our business throughout the year and now we have the April 15th deadline to get us moving. Why not use part of this snow day to get a head start or tackle that one financial task we’ve been putting off?
    5. Make room for some relax time. Just because we are using this snow day for productive work doesn’t mean we can’t take some time out to go outside, play, walk, exercise, or just relax. If we’ve been a bit sleep-deprived, a nap may be in order!

Yes, when the weather outside is frightful, we can take the opportunity to keep moving forward!

We’ll be out and back to the daily routine soon. Let’s make the snow day count!
